Avoid the mistake of opening MP3 tracks in a WAV editor, followed by re-compression back to MP3. Because MP3 is a lossy format using perceptual coding, sound quality is degraded with each edit/save cycle. Virgin PCM data does not suffer such degradation when edited, so it's best to do complex edits on your own WAV files before converting them to MP3 or WMA, OGG, etc. If you only have a MP3 file to start with, most of the time you can use a non-destructive "lossless" MP3 editor and retain the pristine (though lossy) data. You may have to restore ID tag info depending on what you cut from the data. Apps with "auto tag" make this easy to do. For intricate mixing tasks, or cases where a clean splice is impossible due to MP3 frame size, you may have to use a WAV editor, and ideally re-compress to MP3 at a higher bitrate than the original. The MP3 encoder doesn't know that a WAV was flashed from a MP3 originally, so it tries to remove non-audible data in each pass, which it is only supposed to do once. Several freeware MP3 editors are available online. The author has no affiliation with the sample app in this video.

I look forward to his full AO release! Linden recently fixed the lossy compression with animations in Second Life. Newly uploaded animations after this change are now near lossless. This means they allow for much more subtle body movements. I knew it was only a matter of time before some animator made a new AO after the bug had been fixed. Is this new quality noticeable at all? It is mostly noticeable when unoptimized motion-captured animations are uploaded, like in this example. I think it looks better. It could just be a placebo effect, so take a look and decide for yourself.

Consultant of RCA) started dreaming on mass production of broadcasting moving images by electronic devices. The short sequenz is looped and the audiovisiual quality decreases constantly due to the fact of a lossy data compression. Artifacts like peculiar effect, bleeding, ringing, pre-echo, drop-outs, warbling, or graininess can be observed. Even green colored particels pop up in the black/white film the higher the sequence gets compressed. Same artifacts can also be seen in todays video streaming culture.

D: Here it is again :) Yeah, in the beginning, the video shakes a lot - it was my first camera w/ video after all (: (The video has a horribly lossy compression - at 320*240 which makes it even worse.
